The human mind, in its ongoing effort to understand and make sense of the chaotic world around us, seeks meaning in the visual images presented by our perception. We examine this cognitive process, particularly when confronting it with abstract forms arising from chance, accident, or chaos.
As a consequence of the dystopian work of A través de la posverdad and while creating and observing the chaotic-typographic images that make up the series, I repeatedly experienced the psychological phenomenon known as “Pareidolia,” a word of Greek origin that means “attached image.”
Like many others, I have experienced moments where, amid a tumult of abstract forms, I discerned shapes evoking animals, landscapes, and characters. And those shapes were extremely appealing to me.
Gradually, I have isolated, read, and organized these forms, culminating in a collection of geometric pieces inviting viewers to engage in this perceptual game of suggestion, in which the forceful forms conceal genuine narratives.
